Elyse turned 10 months old today, can you believe it!? There will be more pictures from our trip to CO and her tenth month to come. In the meantime have a great time laughing along with Elyse.

Pearly White

Elyse had some news to share with me last night that couldn't wait until the sun was up. She woke me up at 5:30 to tell me that she is getting a tooth! After a bit of orajel and a song, she went back to sleep. So far the tooth hasn't been bothering her during the daylight hours. I hope that trend continues into the night. (Her first tooth is P on the diagram.)

Standing

I got a better picture of Elyse standing as you can see. The latest thing she likes to do is take a washcloth and wave it up and down. (That's what she is holding in her hand.) She also likes droppping it off the musical table and picking it up.

Just Us Girls

Today Toby left for Korea. He will be there for 2-4 weeks. He just took off an hour ago and I already miss him. Please pray for Toby and us girls while he is away.

Look Ma- No Hands

I have been trying to get a picture of Elyse standing on her own and this is the best I have come up with. It's at a close angle because she uses my legs to give her leverage.

Rainy Day in Texas

What do you do with a 9 month old when it's raining (and you have no car)? Take pictures of her of course. (And then blog about them while she naps.)

Look how big she has gotten in comparison to her stuffed animals. She actually fit into the bear's clothes! In the earlier pictures she is 2 1/2 - 3 months old.

Elyse likes to stand up using this chair and reach for her books. Look how happy she is.

RIP Cougar

May 1, 1999-April 26, 2008

My 1st new car is gone. She was deemed damaged beyond her worth on May 1, nine years after she came into my life. I was in a fender bender last saturday and now I will see her no more. She took me snowboarding, to dinner that 1st time at Frank and Cathy's, Jenn and I away from our wedding, here to TX. She went to a couple of dances with my little brothers. I tried to teach Jenn how to drive a stick shift in her. Claire had some name for her (grean bean or pea or string bean or something...)

GONE...

Three Quarters

Elyse is now 9 months old. Last Monday we went to the doctor and got her checked out. She weighed in at 16 lbs 13 oz (30th percentile) and is 27 1/2 inches tall (50th percentile). In the last month Elyse has been very busy. She is crawling like crazy and pulling up on everything! She even stood up on her own (not just letting go of a hand, but went from a squat to stand without help!) She has been trying new foods and, most importantly, she has learned to say "mama."

At the end of the month Elyse's Great Aunt Pat came out to visit. The last time she had seen Elyse was at Christmas when Elyse was just mastering rolling. Elyse has grown quite a bit since then. Aunt Pat bought her a great new toy that is helping her learn how to walk. Elyse loves the noises it makes. We had a great time and miss our aunt.

I'm Back!

I know a lot of you didn't know I was gone, but I'm back- back on the Internet. The cord to our modem went out and I haven't been able to get on line for a week. After three trips to Radio Shack and other hurdles we are finally back online at the Harkless household. I didn't realize how much I would miss the Internet. I felt so out of touch with people and the world. Hello again!
