Growing Up

Our girls are growing up. Yesterday Anastasia slept in her toddler bed for the first time. She stayed in there all night (as far as we could tell) and didn't get out of it until I came and got her in the morning.  Why now you ask? Well the thing that sealed the deal for Anastasia getting out of her crib was a great deal on a toddler bed at Once Upon a Child :)

Elyse wanted to try out the bed too.
Crazy eyes.
She is taking her first nap in the bed as a write this. I hope she is sleeping and not up wondering around the room :)

Elyse is also growing up. She got her first bike today. It's a Tinker Bell bike- not your typical green Tinker Bell, but a more punk fairy (if Tinker Bell can be "punk"). She seemed to do ok, but has a hard time turning still and getting started.

We got Anastasia some wheels too, but unfortunately her legs are still a little too short. I thought she would be able to power it with her feet, but when she pushes off, her ankles hit the back :( Hopefully she will grow fast.

Old Time Christmas Tree Farm

On Saturday we were able to go to a Pumpkin Patch as a family. This time we went to a pumpkin patch a little closer to home: the Old Time Christmas Tree Farm.
We started with a train ride through the Christmas tree farm.

Next the girls jumped

and slid

and ran through the obstacle course

We then ventured over to the area where they were selling Halloween decorations. Anastasia wanted her picture with all of the cut outs, but I'll just share one ;)

And, of course, a trip to the pumpkin patch would not be complete without pictures with pumpkins :)

Anastasia was fading at the end as she "posed" with the pumpkins we picked out.

But she saved a few smiles:

We had a great time making memories :)

Dewberry Farm

On Tuesday Anastasia and I had a MOPS field trip to Dewberry Farm.

We were there for about 2 1/2 hours and only did about 1/4 of the things we could do. Although I heard it is CRAZY on the weekends I would like to bring Elyse here. Maybe next year.

"Hay" ride to the pumpkin patch

Each kid got to get a tiny pumpkin for free.

Next Anastasia went on a cow train ride

It took us mom's by surprise when the tractor took our kids way far away. I'm glad none of them were crying. If they were, we didn't hear them ;)
Anastasia and I then went on this slide. She could have done this all day.
Dewberry Farm had a barn full up lit-up pumpkins all carve very intricately. From Disney characters to football teams, to famous people and animals. It was pretty cool and very dark. I almost lost Anastasia a few times.
While at the farm we also fed goats, visited animals and had a picnic. At the end of our time at the farm we stopped by the little playground and had some fun.

Good Fall Fun :)

Visitors and Pumpkins

Last weekend Lisel and Dave came to visit. There was lot's of books read, games played and laughs to go around.
We had planned to go to Discovery Green in Downtown Houston, but when we got there it was closed for some reason. Instead we went to the Houston Arboretum which had a pumpkin patch.

Anastasia was not going to smile or raise up her hands.
But then she made and silly face
and eventually smiled :) -I wish her hair was a little more controlled in these pictures
We picked a pumpkin and brought it home. Elyse and Anastasia 'helped" us clean and carve the pumpkin.

Most of their help was cheering Daddy on. Go Daddy Go!
Go, Daddy, Go!
Jia You! (sounds like Chi-o according to Elyse and this family) screamed at the top of Anastasia's lungs.
Sandy, the class pet, got in on the action too.
After church on Sunday we went to the park and had a great time.

Lisel and Dave, thanks for visiting! We miss you!
