Outdoor Fun

It has been so long since I updated the blog, I'm a slacker I know. Since the last update we have had visitors! My parents are in Singapore- yippee! Since this is there 4th time here we wanted to do something they hadn't done before. We decided to go to an island of the mainland of Singapore called Palau Ubin. It is the last traditional village (kampung) in Singapore. To get to it you take a short ride in a bumboat. Many people bike around the island, but since we had a baby (that I didn't want to put on the back of a bike), we walked around on the paths. Being on the island you could picture what Singapore looked like before huge building took over. It truly was a jungle.

Walking amid the trees:

We walked to the wetland area. When it is low tide you can see beautiful coral, sea grass, and other sea creatures. From the pictures it looked amazing, but we were there at high tide so we enjoyed a walk along the boardwalk. Feeling the breeze off the water was wonderful. Elyse was in one of her "I'm going to pretend to be shy so you can't get a good picture of me" moods when I took this picture.

After the wetlands we called one of the van taxis they have on the island and went back to where we started to have lunch.

This is Anastasia in a back carrier (thanks Jennifer) for the first time. Thankfully she feel asleep. She has her sleep issues, but thankfully she can sleep on the go -at least for a little bit.

We did other things with my parents which I will update later (well that's the plan), but as of now they are in Bali. While they were gone, Toby, me, Elyse and Anastasia went to the zoo. We hadn't been there as a family for a long long time.

One of my favorite places in the zoo is the Fragile Rainforest. You go into a netted area and walk among the animals. There are lemurs, bats, birds, and other animals. This is the first time I got a picture of a sloth. Many times they seem to be hiding.
Daddy Daughter bonding:

Take a look at Anastasia hair. She was so sweaty that you could make it stand up.

So that is a quick look at some of the things we have been doing in the Outdoors. Stay tuned for my Indoor Fun post. I know you are on the edge of your seats...
