The Powerhouse Museum

On one of the days we had planned to go to the Zoo but the weather wasn't looking great so we headed off the the Powerhouse Museum which happened to be walking distance from our hotel. We had read that this museum was great for kids and it did not disappoint. When we got there there was a long line with local kids and their parents (moms) so that was my first clue that this was going to be a good museum.

When we first walked in there was a huge steam engine complete with passenger cars. then in another room there was a small engine that you could go inside.

This area was all about transportation from bikes to carriages and cars to airplanes.
There were exhibits on space, robots and much more, but we spent most of our time in "Zoe's Garden" where kids learned about eating healthy though interactive games and "Zoe's House" where kids participated in the construction of a house.

Zoe's house:

After Zoe's House we had lunch and played on a playground. The playground was built for bigger kids, but Elyse still had fun on the see-saw attempting to climb some of the equipment. There were a bunch of school groups at the museum (older kids) and they all decided to go to the playground at once so it was crowded. Elyse was very good about waiting her turn and the kids were good about giving her a turn.

This is one of Anastasia's excited faces:

The museum was fun and I would recommend it to anyone with kids visiting the Sydney area.
