Sydney Tower and the Aquarium

We decided that we were going to visit the Sydney Tower and the Maritime Museum the next day. The Sydney Tower is supposedly the highest tower in the Southern Hemisphere, but it really isn't that tall although it is the tallest building in this picture. The tower was walking distance from our hotel so we packed up everyone and headed out. It was a beautiful, clear day so we were able to see a lot. The picture of our hotel in the previous post was taken from the top of the tower. Here, Elyse is a bit confused about which way to look out the binoculars.

I took this picture because there was a butterfly outside the window. You can sort of see it by the lower part of the E. I was just thinking how far up the butterfly had flown.

After the tower we explored more of Darling Harbour and had lunch. I wasn't feeling well so I went back to the hotel with Anastasia and had naps while Elyse and Toby went to the Maritime Museum. They got to go on boats and into a submarine.

The following day we took it easy and headed to the Aquarium which was right next door to our hotel.

It was very well done they had little tank with little sea creatures such as fish, seahorses and these moon jellyfish
and large tanks where you could walk underneath the tank to see sea creatures swimming above you. There were huge stingrays, sharks, turtles, and manatees.

Throughout the aquarium they had these sculptures made out of legos. they were huge as you can tell by its size compared to Elyse. The entire whale and the background were made of legos.

My favorite part was were they recreated a part of the great barrier reef. There were beautiful fish swim among some sharks. Did you know that brightly colored fish were poisonous to sharks? Well they are and that's why the sharks don't eat them, that and the fact that they over feed their sharks so they wouldn't be tempted to snack on anything.

This was a great aquarium. (Much better than the one on Sentosa- sorry Singapore.)
